David and his wife Michele live in Rileyville with their three sons, Corey, Jonathan, and Alec. Their furry family members include their dogs Blu and Bella, cats Bryce and Bad Kitty, Butters a rabbit, African Grey Parrot Butch, and their goats Leroy and Mocha. David's hobbies include RVing, watching ice hockey, and spending time in the great outdoors.

Dr. Rutledge is a member of the American Veterinary Dental Society, American Veterinary Medical Association, Northeast Pennsylvania Veterinary Medical Society, Pennsylvania Veterinary Medical Association, and the PA Lamplighters Camping Club. Dr. Rutledge has special interests in dentistry, ultrasound and soft tissue surgery. Dr. Rutledge's philosophy of veterinary care: 'I enjoy veterinary medicine because I not only get to help make my animal patient's lives better but also their owner's lives as well. I strongly believe in the human-animal bond and the positive health effects this bond has on a pet and the whole family. I believe compassion and education is the cornerstone to great quality healthcare.'
